The Government has appointed Tuhin Kanta Pandey as a new Revenue Secretary.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Tuhin Kanta Pandey, IAS (OR:87), Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management, Ministry of Finance as Secretary, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.
IAS Tuhin Kanta Pandey will continue to be designated as Finance Secretary.
Just about 11 days ago, senior IAS officer Arunish Chawla was appointed as a Revenue Secretary, but now the government has decided to shuffle his role from Revenue Secretary to lead the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM). This change comes just three weeks before the presentation of the Union Budget on February 1.
Tuhin Kanta Pandey, currently the DIPAM secretary and finance secretary, will replace Chawla as the new revenue secretary.
Tuhin Kanta Pandey: Education
Shri Tuhin Kanta Pandey is a 1987 batch IAS Officer of Odisha cadre. Shri Pandey, MA in Economics from Punjab University, Chandigarh and MBA from UK, has worked in various capacities in Government of Odisha and Government of India. In early part of his career, he worked as Executive Director & Managing Director of Odisha State Finance Corporation (OSFC) and Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) respectively.
Tuhin Kanta Pandey: Career
Shri Pandey was Collector and District Magistrate of Sambalpur District. He served as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce in the Government of India. Later he was deputed to the Regional Office of United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). On return from Central deputation, he served as Special Secretary, General Administration Department, Transport Commissioner, as well as Health Secretary and as Commissioner, Commercial Taxes. In 2009, Shri Pandey was appointed as Joint Secretary, Planning Commission for five years and subsequently, appointed as Joint Secretary in the
Cabinet Secretariat for a period of two years. Shri Pandey has acquired wide experience in the areas of Industrial Development, Financial Management and Public Finance and has been instrumental in bringing about several institutional innovations, new policies and systems in the Departments he has served.
Shri Pandey has taken over as Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Odisha since September 2016.
