Bourbon Whiskey Bliss! CBIC Cuts Customs Duty to 50% While Keeping Other Alcoholic Beverages At 100%

In a major boost for Bourbon Whiskey lovers, the Indian government has reduced customs duty on imported bourbon whiskey from 100% to 50%, making it more affordable for enthusiasts. 

However, duties on all other alcoholic beverages remain unchanged at 100%.

This move is expected to enhance bourbon imports while maintaining high tariffs on other spirits, wines, and liquors. 

As per the latest notification under the Customs Act, 1962, and the Finance Act, 2021, bourbon whiskey (tariff items 2208 30 11 and 2208 30 91) now enjoys a reduced import duty, effective immediately. This move is expected to boost bourbon imports while keeping high tariffs intact for other spirits, wines, and liquors.
