It is with profound sadness that we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mahendra Ranga Ji, Principal Chief Commissioner, CGST Rajasthan. A distinguished officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes) from the 1990 batch, he leaves behind an enduring legacy of dedication, excellence, and service to the nation.
Throughout his illustrious career spanning over three decades, Mahendra Ranga Ji played a pivotal role in customs enforcement, GST administration, and national security. He was instrumental in landmark reforms, including the rollout of GST and capacity-building initiatives.

Born with an innate drive for learning and service, Mahendra Ranga Ji held degrees in Mechanical Engineering (REC Kurukshetra), International Business Operations (IGNOU), LLB (Delhi University), and LLM in Business Laws (Kurukshetra University). Before joining the civil services, he worked as an engineer with Engineers India Limited, New Delhi.
His career began on the Indo-Pak border in Barmer and Jaisalmer, where he led anti-smuggling operations. He later championed initiatives such as computer-assisted audits, streamlined customs procedures at Amritsar Airport, and cracked down on narcotics smuggling. His contributions extended beyond the field, as he mentored future leaders through NACEN, Delhi Judicial Academy, and CBI Academy.
A passionate advocate for education and social welfare, Mahendra Ranga Ji founded the Kailana Vikas Foundation, mentored UPSC aspirants, and worked with organizations like the Shashi Dream Foundation and CRADLE. He also authored the book “Morning Musings: Sutras for Success and Happiness.”
Recognized nationally and internationally for his contributions, he received commendations from the Indian Parliament, the High Commission of Canada, and the National Anti-Profiteering Authority.

Mahendra Ranga ji’s life was marked by unwavering integrity, tireless service, and compassionate leadership. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to work alongside him and learn from his wisdom.
He is survived by his loving family, friends, and countless colleagues who will cherish his memory and honor his remarkable contributions.
