The Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for March 2025 have surged by 9.9%, marking a significant milestone in India’s economic trajectory. The record-breaking figures underscore strong business activity, improved compliance, and effective tax administration.

Highest Monthly Collection in History

The total GST revenue collected for March 2025 reached Rs. 1.96 lakh crore, reflecting a 9.9% year-on-year growth. This increase highlights robust consumption trends and an expanding tax base, reinforcing India’s economic resilience.

Breakdown of GST Revenue

The revenue is comprised of:

  • GST revenue from domestic transactions: ₹1.49 lakh crore (an increase of 8.8%)
  • GST revenue from imported goods: ₹46,919 crore (a growth of 13.56%)
  • Total refunds issued: ₹19,615 crore (a 41% increase from the previous year)
  • Net GST revenue after refunds: ₹1.76 lakh crore, reflecting a 7.3% year-on-year growth
