Why Govt. Issues Rs. 100 Coin? [READ NOTIFICATION]

The Ministry of Finance has issued the Commemorative Coin of denomination of Rs. 100 on the occasion of Birth Centenary of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The government has notified Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Birth Centenary of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba) Rules, 2025.

The coin of One Hundred Rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of Birth Centenary of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The coin of Rs. 100 denomination shall be Circular and of 44 millimeter, the number diameter of serrations will be 200 and will be composed of Quaternary Alloy Silver – 50 per cent. Copper -40 per cent. Nickel – 05 per cent. Zinc – 05 per cent.

The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred in rule 2 shall be coined on the occasion of Birth Centenary of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule annexed to these rules.

ONE HUNDRED RUPEES

OBVERSE:

This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devnagri script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “Z” and denominational value “100” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

REVERSE:

This face of the coin shall feature the image of ‘BHAGAWAN SRI SATHYA SAI BABA” in the center of the Coin. The year ‘1926’ in international numerals shall be inscribed on the left side of the image, and the year 2026′ shall be inscribed on the right side. On the upper periphery of the coin, the inscription ‘भगवान श्री सत्य साई बाबा की जन्म शताब्दी shall be written in Devnagari script, and the inscription “BIRTH CENTENARY OF BHAGAWAN SRI SATHYA SAI BABA in English shall be inscribed on the bottom periphery of the coin.
