Contempt Notice to Australia-based woman for abusing Judge during VC Hearing

After a plaintiff in a case received a contempt notice and was overheard insulting the court during a video sentencing hearing, problems escalated for her.

An Indian woman living in Australia is the target of a suo-motu criminal contempt of court case brought by the Delhi High Court for disparaging a judge during virtual proceedings.

The plaintiff, Anita Kumari Gupta, who had joined via video conference, mistreated the court after the date was announced and item No. 11 was taken. She asked, “How Could Item No. 11 Be Taken Before Item No. 10?” and, “Ye Saali Kya Kar Rahi Hai, What The F…. is Going On In This Court?”

Even though the attorneys for the various parties were present and had consented to the date given, the court declared that the plaintiff, Anita Kumari Gupta, was clearly contemptuous and showed utter disregard for the dignity of the court by making such disparaging remarks.
