Latha Rajinikanth, the wife of Tamil film actor Rajinikanth, has been granted conditional bail by a Bengaluru court. She is being accused of forgery as a result of a disagreement over the 2014 movie “Kochadaiiyaan.” On December 26, Latha Rajinikanth made an in-person appearance before the Bengaluru magistrate’s court.
In the case, she also submitted an application for discharge. The hearing was postponed by the court until January 6.
The court granted bail in exchange for a Rs. 25,000 cash surety and a Rs. 1 lakh personal bond. She was told not to sway witnesses or alter the evidence.
Sections 196, 199, 463, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code are the charges brought against her. The complainant objected to the discharge application that her advocate had filed because she had not yet received bail and Section 463 of the IPC does not permit it.
The HC ordered her to personally appear before the court by January 6, 2024, at the latest, on December 1.
Ad Bureau Advertising, a Chennai-based business that conducted business with M/s Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd., the company that produced the Rajinikanth film, filed a private complaint against Latha. The daughter of Latha Rajinikanth was the director of Kochadaiiyaan.
Latha Rajinikanth is said to have signed a guarantee in favor of Ad Bureau Advertising on behalf of Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd., but she neglected to follow through on it after the movie experienced financial setbacks.
Latha Rajinikanth was able to get an injunction prohibiting seventy media outlets from disseminating false information regarding this financial transaction. Ad Bureau Advertising filed a private complaint after Latha Rajinikanth’s injunction suit was dismissed by the court in 2015. The complaint claimed that a forged document had been used in the previous injunction suit.
