High Court Issues Contempt Notice to Police for Illegal Detention

A contempt notice for “illegal and unjustified” detention was sent to the Haryana Police by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. A dismissed Punjab Police officer has also received a contempt notice from the High Court for allegedly spreading malicious information.

As the court has noted, the Police’s actions go against the directives it issued in Satender Kumar Antil Vs. Central Bureau of Investigation & Anr.

The Chief Justice set the date of the 1974 Contempt of Court (Punjab and Haryana) Rules’ implementation.

The No Litigation Policy-2023 has also been approved by the government of Haryana. Instead of one acre of land, this policy permits eligibility for 1000 square meters of developed land/plot on a proportionate basis.
