Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the leader of Dera Sacha Sauda, filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction against YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh, and the Delhi High Court responded with notice on Friday. Gurmeet Ram Rahim has requested that a video that Mr. Singh uploaded be taken down.
The petition filed by Ram Rahim against Shyam Meera Singh was noticed by Vacation Judge Shailender Kaur, who also scheduled a hearing for this Saturday.
Additionally, he has asked Shyam Meera Singh for permission to remove the problematic video.
The respondent Shyam Singh is accused of posting a video titled “How Ram Rahim made a fool of his followers” on YouTube.
On December 17, the purported video was posted online. Singh was also served with a legal notice prior to proceeding to the High Court. The attorney added that Mr. Singh nonetheless declined to remove the video.
Before the bench, Ram Rahim’s attorney claimed that the disputed video was disparaging and defamatory.
The attorney contended that Mr. Singh is a repeat offender and that an affidavit was filed in Uttar Pradesh for his defamation of the chief minister of the state.
The attorney stated that Mr. Singh had previously worked for a news channel before being let go.
Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim is incarcerated for the crime of rape.
