The Customs Officers of IGI Airport, New Delhi have busted a major case of drug smuggling, seizing 38,529 grams (38.5 KG) of Ganja/Marijuana (hydrophonic weed) valued at approximately ₹38.5 crores.
The customs officers of IGI Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling of green colour NDPS substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana concealed in thirty-nine polythene pouches on the basis of spot profiling against thai nataional passenger namely Ms. Ratchaneekorn Suriyowho arrived at T-3, New Delhi by Flight No. TG 323 dated 28-01-2025 from Bangkok to terminal-3, IGI Airport, New Delhi on 28-01-2025.
The pax was diverted at green channel for the x-ray of their personal and baggage searches by the customs officers on duty.
subsequently, on examination of thirty-nine polythene pouches in two black colour trolley bag containing green colour narcotics substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana totally weighing 38529 grams (net weight was found.when this material was subjected to diagnostic test, prima facie it appeared to be ganja/marijuana the value of said substance is 38.5 crores approx.
It is clear that the pax has violated provisions of section 8 of the NDPS Act, 1985 and has committed offences punishable under section 20, section 23 and section 29 of NDPS Act, 1985. accordingly, the pax has been placed under arrest under section 43(b) of NDPS Act, 1985, 1985 at about 17:00 hrs on 29-01-2025, green colour substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana has been seized along with concealing material and packaging under section 43(a) of NDPS Act, 1985.
Further investigation in the matter is under process.
