The Delhi Customs Department headed by the Commissioner, Vishal Pal Singh seized 9.978 kg of Suspected Hydroponic Weed Worth ₹9.978 Crore at IGI Airport, New Delhi.
The Customs officers at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling involving a green-colored NDPS substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana. The substance, concealed in twenty black polythene pouches, was intercepted based on passenger profiling.
The passenger was the Indian National and upon arrival, was diverted at the Green Channel for baggage and personal examination. An X-ray of the passenger’s belongings led to the discovery of a green trolley bag containing twenty polythene pouches with a green-colored narcotic substance weighting 9.978 kg (Net)
The Diagnostic tests indicated the substance to be ganja/marijuana (hydroponic) worth Rs. 9.978 crore.
The passenger has been charged with violating provisions of Section 8 of the NDPS Act, 1985 and committing offenses punishable under Sections 20, 23, and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. The individual was placed under arrest at 12:30 PM on January 26, 2025, under Section 43(B) of the NDPS Act. The narcotic substance, along with the concealment material, has been seized under Section 43(A) of the NDPS Act.
The investigation into the matter is underway to uncover potential connections and the broader network involved in the smuggling attempt.
