ICAI Announces CA Final Exams to Be Held Thrice a Year from 2025

Date:

In a major reform benefiting Chartered Accountancy (CA) aspirants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that the CA Final exams will now be conducted three times a year starting in 2025. This decision aligns with global best practices and enhances opportunities for students pursuing the prestigious qualification.

CA Final Exams to Be Held in January, May, and September

Previously conducted twice a year, the CA Final exam will now be scheduled in January, May, and September, mirroring the examination cycle already introduced for the Intermediate and Foundation levels. This change ensures uniformity across all three stages of the CA program, allowing students additional chances to attempt the exams and reducing waiting periods between attempts.

“In order to align with global best practices and provide students with greater opportunities, the 26th Council of the ICAI has taken a historic decision to hold the CA Final exam three times a year,” ICAI stated in its official announcement.

More Opportunities, Greater Flexibility

With this update, all three levels of the CA examination—Final, Intermediate, and Foundation—will now have three annual attempts. This provides students increased flexibility in planning their study schedules and attempting the exams at a pace that suits them best.

The ICAI’s decision is expected to help aspirants complete the CA course more efficiently by minimizing delays caused by failed attempts or unforeseen circumstances.

Post Qualification Course in Information Systems Audit Also Revamped

In addition to the CA exams, ICAI has also restructured the Post Qualification Course in Information Systems Audit. Previously held twice a year in June and December, the Assessment Test for this course will now be conducted thrice a year—in February, June, and October—further enhancing accessibility and convenience for ICAI members.
