Supreme Court Announces Dates for Advocates-on-Record Exam 2025

The Supreme Court of India has issued an official notification regarding the Advocates-on-Record (AoR) Examination 2025, scheduled to be held at New Delhi on 16th, 17th, 20th, and 21st June, 2025.

The notification has been issued under Rules 5(i) and (ii) of Order IV of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, and Regulation 2 of the Regulations regarding Advocates-on-Record Examination governing the conduct of the examination.

Key Highlights:

  1. Eligibility: Advocates who have completed their training for a continuous period of one year — beginning at the end of the fourth year from the date of their enrolment and concluding on or before 30th April, 2025 — or those who will complete the required training before the commencement of the examination, shall be eligible to appear.
  2. Application Window: Duly filled application forms can be submitted between 15th April and 30th April, 2025, during office hours, at the AoR Examination Cell — Room No. 307, 3rd Floor, B-Block, Administrative Buildings Complex, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi – 110001. The last date for receipt of applications is 30th April, 2025 (by 5:00 PM). No applications will be entertained after the deadline.
  3. Application Forms: For candidates’ convenience, a copy of the application form along with detailed instructions and submission guidelines is appended to the official notification as Annexure ‘A’. Physical copies of the application form may also be obtained from the AoR Examination Cell on any working day during office hours.
  4. Training Certificate Requirement: Acceptance of the application is subject to the submission of a certificate of completion of training from an Advocate-on-Record, in accordance with Regulation 6 of the Regulations governing the AoR Examination.

The AoR Examination is a prestigious qualification that grants advocates the right to file appearances and act on behalf of litigants before the Supreme Court of India. Conducted annually, it is known for its rigorous assessment of a candidate’s legal acumen, procedural knowledge, and drafting skills.
