The Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, alongside the Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport, Shri Harsh Malhotra, launched the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) App at Samanvay Hall No. 5, Parliament, New Delhi.
The mobile application aims to provide seamless access to internship opportunities for youth across India, supporting skill development and employability.

The newly launched PMIS App offers multiple features, including:

Massive Internship Opportunities Under PMIS
Launched in the Union Budget 2024-25, the PMIS Scheme aims to provide one crore internships in the top 500 companies over five years. The scheme focuses on individuals aged 21 to 24 years who are not currently enrolled in any full-time academic program or employment.
Salient Features of the PM Internship Scheme:
- 12-month paid internships in top companies across India
- ₹5,000 monthly stipend plus one-time ₹6,000 financial assistance
- At least six months of real-world industry experience
- Opportunities across various sectors including Automobile, Travel & Hospitality, Banking & Finance, IT, and Sales & Marketing
- Internship roles for graduates, ITI holders, diploma holders, 12th-grade pass-outs, and 10th-grade pass-outs
Progress and Impact of the PMIS Pilot Project
The PMIS Pilot Project, launched on October 3, 2024, for FY 2024-25, aimed to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities.
Round I (Oct–Dec 2024):
- 1.27 lakh opportunities posted by 280 companies across 25 sectors
- 82,000+ offers made to candidates
- Spread across 745 districts
Round II (Jan–Mar 2025):
- 1.18 lakh new and revised opportunities by 327 companies
- 37,000 for graduates, 23,000 for ITI holders, 18,000 for diploma holders, 15,000 for 12th pass-outs, and 25,000 for 10th pass-outs
- Active participation from MCA, state governments, and industry leaders in 80+ outreach events at colleges and Rozgar Melas
A referral program under PMIS has also been introduced, enabling registered candidates to refer others and earn rewards.
