About the Organization

The National Investigation Agency is a specialized counter-terrorism law enforcement agency in India. The agency is empowered to deal with the investigation of terror-related crimes across states without special permission from the states under a written proclamation from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) is functioning as the Central Counter Terrorism Law Enforcement Agency in the country. Information is given about the NIA’s mission, objectives, banned organizations, NIA special courts, nodal officers and branch offices, etc.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Comments on final reports on cases wherein the authority is competent to pass orders.
  • Carry out an investigation of all prosecution branches of his region once a year.
  • Prosecution of cases and assisting in all matters of the court.
  • Ensuring submission of progress reports of the cases pending before Special Judges of the National Investigation Agency.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University;
  • Ten years’ experience in the Prosecution of Criminal Cases.
